Join us for the celebration on Monday, October 31st , Halloween Night at 7:30PM in the main church. This prayer celebration of all the holy men and women saints of history will include readings from the lives and writings of the saints, sung musical interludes, chanting of the Church's Night Prayer, and a candlelight procession. Come join us for this historical event as we reclaim Halloween for what it truly is... a Catholic Holy Day, a celebration of All - Hallows - Eve (All - Saints - Eve). The service will be followed by a reception with light sweet refreshments in the church hall immediately afterwards

"L'arche: a place of celebration and forgiveness"

Crisely Melecio-Zambrano and Debora Green are part of the L'Arche community of greater Washington DC and will be speaking about the importance of community. L’Arche is an inter-denominational Christian community that welcomes people of all backgrounds to share life together. Community life is centered around four communal homes and the 16 members who have intellectual disabilities, known as “core people.” Each community member is encouraged to discover and deepen his or her spiritual life and live it according to his or her particular faith and tradition. Those who have no religious affiliation are also welcomed and respected in their freedom of conscience.

Debora Green is one of the core members and Crisely
is a live-in assistant and the home life leader in her community. Crisely will give an introduction of L'Arche and then will do Q&A format with Debora, asking her questions about community and her experiences living at L'Arche.

Happy 1/2 hour begins at 7 p.m. (but many people arrive at 6:30 p.m. for dinner) and the evening's speaker will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. for the presentation and Q&A.

Women's Evenings! - Book Discussion -guided book discussion that will meet every other week on Wednesdays from 8-9pm in the church hall of Saints Philip & James (after their weekly adoration and confession, which starts at 7pm). We will have drinks and light snacks :)  Our first meeting will be October 19th at 8pm

We will be reading "Jesus the Bridegroom: The Greatest Love Story Ever Told" by Dr. Brant Pitre. It focuses on the mystery of the cross, tradition in Jewish scripture, and what it really means for the Church to be the 'bride' and Jesus Christ the 'bridegroom'. You can find the book on Amazon here: https://amzn.com/0770435459

We will be leading the discussions every meeting, so it is not a requirement to read the sections before joining us. We will announce the sections the week before we meet. For our first meeting we will be reading Introduction and The Bridegroom God of Israel (the first two sections)

Please RSVP if you plan on attending to mvalero16@gmail.com - or email if you have any questions or concerns.
