Join the Baltimore Frassati Fellowship and young adults from the Archdiocese of Baltimore for fellowship and a talk by Monsignor Arthur "Art" Valenzano to continue our Theology on Tap Winter/Spring 2014 series at The Greene Turtle in Fell's Point*!

You're warmly invited to come at 6:30 p.m. for dinner, or you can choose to arrive at 7 p.m. for a "happy half hour"! The talk will commence at 7:30 p.m. Following the talk will be a time for the audience to ask our guest speaker questions, and then there will be a period for additional fellowship.

This evening's guest speaker, Monsignor Arthur "Art" Valenzano, will delve into various ways we can make the most out of this Lenten season. Monsignor Art has been the 24th rector of the National Shrine of the Basilica of the Assumption ("the Baltimore Basilica") since 2010. A native of Frostburg, Maryland, Monsignor Art attended the former St. Charles College in Catonsville, Maryland from the ninth grade through college, attaining his bachelor's degree in philosophy; he then attended St. Mary's Seminary in Roland Park, where he received his Master of Divinity degree. He was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Baltimore in 1975 by Archbishop William Borders. His previous assignments have been at St. Ambrose Parish in Baltimore, at St. Mary's Parish in Govans, as the director of the Monsignor O'Dwyer Retreat House in Sparks, at St. William of York Parish in Baltimore, and as the pastor of St. John's Parish in Westminster. In 1996, Father Art became the youngest priest in the archdiocese to receive the title of Monsignor, when Pope John Paul II bestowed the honor on him at the age of 47. In 2013, Monsignor Art received from Pope Benedict XVI the honorary title of Monsignor Apostolic Protonotaries Supernumerary (P.A.), the highest level of Monsignor in most dioceses. As has been reported in The Catholic Review and local media, Monsignor Art has ongoing acute myeloid leukemia. In September of 2006 and again in February of 2013, he received a bone marrow transplant from his brother. He is currently feeling fine.
