Over 100 people joined us from all over Baltimore City to worship alongside the saints. Last week, we hosted Baltimore's first ever Vigil of All Saints on Halloween with readings from writings about and by some of the saints, the singing of hymns, the chanting of night prayer, and a candlelight procession to our center altar, which was decorated with the relics of many of the saints.

We are very excited to make this an annual event, as we continue to ask for the intercession of our saints in heaven.

See for yourself: check out the rest of the photos here!

Also, the Dominican Province of Saint Joseph wrote an article on the event: check it out here!

Archbishop William E. Lori

Born in Louisville, KY, in 1951, Archbishop Lori prepared for the priesthood at Mount Saint Mary’s Seminary in Emmitsburg. He was ordained in 1977 for the Archdiocese of Washington and his first assignment was as associate pastor of St. Joseph in Landover.

Archbishop Lori served as secretary to Cardinal James Hickey, and was chancellor, moderator of the curia and vicar general in Washington.

In 1995, Archbishop Lori was ordained to the episcopate as Auxiliary Bishop of Washington.

Archbishop Lori was installed as the fourth Bishop of Bridgeport, Conn., in 2001. He was appointed to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' Ad Hoc Committee on Sexual Abuse in 2002, where he was instrumental in drafting the landmark Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People.

In 2005, Archbishop Lori was elected Supreme Chaplain of the Knights of Columbus.

Archbishop Lori has been a leading voice on the defense of religious liberty, and serves as chair of the bishops' Ad Hoc Committee for Religious Liberty.. On October 26, 2011, he testified in support of religious freedom during a hearing before the Subcommittee on the Constitution of the House of Representatives Judiciary Committee.

Archbishop Lori has been outspoken in his opposition to a new rule by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that mandates that all Catholic institutions, including hospitals, universities and charities, offer their employees health coverage that includes sterilization, abortion-inducing drugs, and contraception.

Pope Benedict XVI appointed Archbishop Lori the 16th Archbishop of Baltimore on March 20, 2012. He was installed at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen in Baltimore on May 16, 2012.
